In today’s world economy it has grown increasingly hard to “live the American dream” on one salary alone. Due to inflation and the rising prices of virtually everything, a lot of Americans look for opportunities to make extra income in a variety of ways. Some may try an Amazon, Uber and others become content creators.
Kry Jones is one of those individuals. Kry has/is attempting to blaze his own path by using his god given talents to create many different forms of content. Under Mr. Jones’ production company, Krownd Kingdm Entertainment, Kry creates writes and performs music, writes and performs in films, has created his own drama series, and his latest work, a short film named Its ok to not be ok.
Kry Jones a Queens NY native, has been through his own stressors in life and has learned to effectively communicate his feelings and problems with the help of his family and friends. In his new short film, It’s Ok to Not be Ok, Mr.Jones focuses on the troubles men, especially African American men, face in their day to day lives. Kry portrays a young man named Tyrell who’s going through his own everyday struggles as he tries to navigate through them alone because, he feels that’s what men do. In this film Kry is bringing attention to mental health in men and why so many don’t have an outlet to vent.
In America the suicide rate in men almost quadruples the rate of women, according to the CDC. In 2021 and 2022 the reported suicides in men were 38,353 and 39,255 and 9,825 and 10,194 in women respectively. From a young age men are taught subconsciously to not show emotion and to essentially deal with their problems which has in my opinion strongly leads to these stats. With no outlet to vent, they internalize their problems leading to self destruction.
Kry Jones has a ton more to come as he continues to grow in the film and music industry.
