Historically HBCU’s don’t make a lot of noise when it comes to the big dance known as March Madness but, for the 2nd year in a row the Howard University mens basketball team has won the MEAC championship.
The woman also had a good run falling to Norfolk state again in the MEAC championship for then second year in a row. Last year and this year were hard fought games and hopefully next year the Lady Bison can pull it off in 2025.
I may be biased being I am a Howard Alumni but, let’s see how far we can ride this run! Greatness doesn’t happen over night but as more high school seniors begin to choose HBCU’s to attend can we see Howard as a power school when it comes to basketball? Of course we’d have to give the Burr Gymnasium a face lift but, hopefully sooner than later we can start to make some noise yearly in the NCAA tournaments.
