Devin “The Dream” and “King” Rayn Garcia meet for a press conference in LA and there was alot to take away there.
Bernard Hopkins opened the presser with a message to keep all the hype about the fighters and not on the camps back and forth thats been going on.
Bill Haney in his typical fashion managed to gracefully praise the garcia camp while also insulting them in the same breath. I must say he is a master at giving you respect but also making someone seem insignificant at the same time. Great stuff always love to see his press events.
Gracia was garcia. A mix of humor and relatability is what he strived for by admitting to his vices of drinking and smoking weed which prompted Haney to attack his status as someone to look up too. I must agree it was a valid point. I know we live in a “live in your truth” and “nobody is perfect” era. But does that mean we shouldn’t set examples or at least encourage greatness in the youth? Thats a discussion for another time i guess.
Bill haneys comments about garcias father’s toupee(if it was actually a toupee i have no idea) caused the elder garcia to react by saying Bill’s hair was Nappy and proceeded to compare him to infamous boxing promoter Don King. The nappy hair remarks sparked calls of racism by the Haney camp and while i personally do not think it was ment to be a racist remark Devin did address it well. Overall it was a entertaining press event and im sure another closer to the fight will be even more extravagant. You can check out the full event in the video below.
